Is keeping marines very difficult?
This is one of the most often asked questions and there is no easy answer. Marines do require more involvement, but this is all part of the enjoyment. If you want to just fill a tank with water, put in the fish and sit back then marines are probably not for you. If on the other hand, you want to take your time, find out about whats going on in your tank, and build a thriving microcosm of life which will impress any observer, then keeping marines might be right up your street!
Is it ethical to keep marine fish or corals?
The immediate reaction upon seeing marine fish and corals on sale is that by selling such rare animals we are damaging the worlds natural ecosystems. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. Our suppliers only collect livestock by hand-nets, causing no damage to reefs, and corals are either grown or sustainably harvested. Furthermore, as locals are employed in the catching process, they are also educated about the natural environment and reef protection is actively supported by the trade. After all, it is in the industrys interest to make sure our reefs continue producing livestock sustainably.
